Sonnets To JenniCam I, 13

by Howard A. Landman

February 24, 1997 ?

Full bosom, bottom, belly, thigh,
a knowing grin ... All these imply
pleasure in one's arms ... My eyes,
at least, lead me to this surmise

while watching. But are pictures real?
Do they grow slowly Jen-less by the hour?
In place of her own self, the web's true flower,
flow image-petals fingers cannot feel.

Yet something's there in Jennicam!
Sweet juices gather behind a dam
in the viewing, at first unclear,

to become firm, awake, transparent,
suggestive, loving, earthy, present: -
Oh experience, feeling, joy, - she's here!

Longmont, March 30, 2000

In addition to being a tribute to Jenni, this poem is also a satire of R. M. Rilke's "Sonnets to Orpheus I, 13".
