Sonnets To JenniCam I, 10

by Howard A. Landman

March 31, 1997 ?

You, who oft embrace her feet,
I salute you, shoes on Jenni's rack,
in red or white or brown or black,
who guard her from the gritty street ...

Or you, elastic, soft and sheer,
stretched flimsily across her chest,
who cups yourself around each breast -
yes you, her lacy black brassiere ...

All you, who get so very close,
I salute you, Jenni's many clothes
who dance your dance upon her stage.

Would we serve so, friends, or would we not?
This question creeps into our thought
each time we monitor her page.

Longmont, April 23, 1999

In addition to being a tribute to Jenni, this poem is also a satire of R. M. Rilke's "Sonnets to Orpheus I, 10".
