Sonnets To JenniCam I, 9

by Howard A. Landman

January 26, 1997 ?

Only one who began
the webcam craze
could draw from her fans
such endless praise.

Only one whose face is
a gift to the net
could leave the traces
we'll never forget.

Those who say she will bore us
all speak in vain:
she never will.

Though the image before us
may seem mundane,
we watch it still.

Fort Collins, March 28, 1999

In addition to being a tribute to Jenni, this poem is also a satire of R. M. Rilke's "Sonnets to Orpheus I, 9".
