Sonnets To JenniCam I, 5

by Howard A. Landman

sometime prior to November 6, 1996

Erect no archive site. Just let her poses
blossom new each day as his reward.
For that's the Cam. Her metamorphoses
in bits and dots. We shouldn't strive too hard

to find another name. You all can see
it's Jenni in the Cam. She comes and goes.
Isn't it enough if sometimes he
stays up just long enough to catch her pose?

And if she's blurry, then you might need glasses.
Must servers crash, before you understand?
For when your screen displays her in a dither,

she is already, where you can't go with her.
The raster bars do not constrain her hands.
And she obeys, whenever she trespasses.

San Jose, October 21, 1998

In addition to being a tribute to Jenni, this poem is also a satire of R. M. Rilke's "Sonnets to Orpheus I, 5".
