Sonnets To JenniCam I, 4

by Howard A. Landman

October 6, 1996

Oh, you fingertips, slip now and then
down to the bow that you yourself tied,
entice it to loosen, and open wide
the lacework, revealing her glory again.

Oh you clever and sensitive fingers,
through you such joy flows out and in.
Feelers of pleasure and pleasure-bringers,
you make her smile when you begin.

Don't be afraid your full caress
will be lost in the net's emptiness;
full are her breasts, full are her thighs.

The music of her intimate sighs
may be too haunting for us to bear.
But her face ... but her hair ...

San Jose, October 21, 1998

In addition to being a tribute to Jenni, this poem is also a satire of R. M. Rilke's "Sonnets to Orpheus I, 4".
