Rima XXXIII

by Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer
translated by H. Landman

It's a question of words and, unfortunately,
neither you nor I will ever,
after the fact, agree
    on whose fault it was.

A pity that love does not have
a dictionary in which to look up
when pride is simply pride
    and when it is dignity!

Es cuestión de palabras, y, no obstante,
    ni tú ni yo jamás,
después de lo pasado, convendremos
    en quién la culpa está.

¡Lástima que el amor un diccionario
    no tenga dónde hallar
cuando el orgullo es simplemente orgullo
    y cuando es dignidad!
