Drug Uses
Neurontin is used for healing of seizures associated with epilepsy. It can also be used for curing nerve pain associated with herpes zoster (shingles) infection (postherpetic neuralgia). Neurontin may also be used for other condition as determined by your doctor.
How Taken
Use Neurontin as advised by your doctor. Use Neurontin with or without a meal. Don't take an antacid containing aluminum or magnesium within 2 hours before you take Neurontin. Don't suddenly stop taking Neurontin. You may have an increased risk of side effects (eg, seizures). If you need to stop taking Neurontin or add a new drug, your doctor will gradually lower your dose.
Additional Information
Neurontin may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. These effects may worsen if Neurontin is taken with alcohol or certain other medications. Use Neurontin with caution. Don't drive or perform other possibly dangerous tasks until you know how you react to this product. If your symptoms don't improve or if they worsen, ask your doctor. Neurontin should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed. Don't take less or more or take it more often than prescribed by your physician.
