Drug Uses
Dapsone is used for curing leprosy. It may be used in combination with other drugs. It is also used to cure dermatitis herpetiformis (extremely itchy groups of skin lesions, usually occurring on the elbows, knees, and scalp). It can also be used for other situations as recommended by your doctor.
How Taken
Take Dapsone as directed by your physician. Use Dapsone on an empty stomach. If stomach upset occurs, you can take it with food to reduce stomach irritation. If you also take didanosine, do not take it within two hours before or after using Dapsone. To clear up your infection absolutely, use Dapsone for the full course of curing. Keep taking it even if you feel better in a few days. Dapsone works best if it is taken at the same time each day.
Additional Information
Dapsone may cause blurred vision. Take Dapsone with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly dangerous tasks until you know how you respond to this pill. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, contact your physician. Dapsone should be used only by the patient for whom it has been recommended. Do not take less or more or take it more often than prescribed by your physician.
